Maritime Museum Louisiana

Our Mission is “Bringing Louisiana’s Maritime History to Life” We accomplish this through exhibits, publications, boat building, hands on field trips, camps to construct underwater robotics and restoration of our Tchefuncte River Lighthouse. Our premier event and main fundraiser each year is the Wooden Boat Festival.

Madisonville Historic Museum

The Madisonville Historic Museum is housed in the historic Court House and Jail located at 211 Cedar Street. The museum has a collection of Madisonville Indian Culture, Civil War History, Wildlife, old town documents, photographs and family geneology. It also houses the "Alice", a handmade canoe which was the first to travel the length of the Mississippi in 1881 with explorer Willard Glazier. Visitors can explore the 6-cell jail, as well as many artifacts from the historic town. Open each Saturday and Sunday noon to 4p.m.. Free Admission. Donations accepted.
